Amazon, Flipkart, Tata worried about the e-commerce law of the center! Hall meeting

Webmultichannel: Representatives of well-known online retailers such as Amazon and Tata met with central government officials. They have expressed concern over the new e-commerce rules of the center. The law, passed last month, is a major blow to their business model, they say.

Yesterday, executives of several companies, including Amazon and Tata, met with officials of the Consumer Protection Department. They have requested for an extension of the deadline for comment on the new law. The Center was asked to respond by July 8. Concerns have been raised about ‘flash cell’ and a few other issues. The center has introduced a new e-commerce law on June 21 to stand by shoppers and small shops. But it has put pressure on multinationals like Amazon and Flipkart. Restrictions on 'flash sales', banning misleading advertisements, making it mandatory for buyers to complain, etc. were in the law of the center. It has to rethink the business structure of Amazon and Flipkart. Domestic competitors like Geomart, BigBasket, Snapdeal can raise the price of the product.

Officials at the Ministry of Consumer Protection say the law is designed to protect consumers and is not as strict in India as in other countries.
