KKR: 101 (Russell 45, Narin 22)

Lucknow won by 75 runs.

News Daily Digital Desk: Awkward batting. Hatshree bowling. Above all, there are a lot of cuts with the team. The Kolkata Knight Riders have to pay the price. KKR virtually dropped out of the fight to reach the IPL (IPL 2022) play-offs after a humiliating loss to Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday night. The Lucknow Super Giants, a team formed by Gautam Gambhir, the former captain of the Knights, could not give a fight to the team on that day. KKR defeated by 75 runs.

Knight (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer decided to field first after winning the toss in Pune on Saturday. He made an impeccable run out in the first over and returned it to Lucknow captain KL Rahul. But then Lucknow turned around. Quinton D'Cook and Deepak Hooda started beating the mid-bowlers well. D'Cock made 50 off just 29 balls. Hooda made 41 off 26 balls. At one point it seemed that Lucknow was going to build a huge innings. In the middle overs, Russell and Narine got the Knights back in the match. But in the end, Stones made 28 off just 14 balls to take Lucknow to 18 runs. In the 19th over, KKR's 6 crore bowler Mavi could not have reached Lucknow if he had not scored 30 runs.

The Knights were shaky from the start as they went down to bat in reply. At the beginning, father Indrajith returned to zero. Shreyas Iyer, Aaron Finch also quickly measured the road to the pavilion. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh are no exception. Only Andre Russell and Sunil Narin put up some resistance. Russell made 45 off 19 balls. Narine made 22 runs from 12 balls. No other batter could stand that way. KKR was all-out for 101 runs in just 14 overs with 3 balls to spare.

As a result of this huge loss, KKR's chances of playing in the play-offs were virtually eliminated. Despite winning their last 3 matches by a big margin, KKR will have to look at others to reach the last four. On the other hand, this victory practically confirmed the play-off game in Lucknow. They are currently at the top of the league table.
